Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wrong Advice I was told that the cable would work with my Mac G4 laptop. Also was told that the hexnuts were removable by just unscrewing them. Well, they are not unscrewable however, I was able to remove them without ruining the cable. Trying to use the cable to go from Mac USB to iomega Zip SCSi connection to be able to use my commercial HP scanner and the iomega ZIP drive. It doesn't work with Mac OS10 or even Mac OS9 Classic. Even though it connects physically, the compatibility is not there. It is unreturnable since I to alter it to get the hex nuts off. Thanks anyway for your service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as Advertised Used this cable as a communication bridge from my SMDR port on our Nortel Phone equipment to our Network Server for phone auditing/report generating capabilities. The cable works as advertised. I had an issue with the DB25-side securing screws - they prevented me from securing the DB25 side down into the SMDR port so I used a hacksaw and sawed them off to make the interface bezel flush and allow it to seat properly. This is in no-way a negative aspect of the product as I am using this cable to fulfill a purpose slightly outside of its original scope.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 6ft USB Serial DB25 Adapter Cable I upgraded my computer to one with no serial ports. I was getting FIFO errors although FIFO was turned off. Downloaded the driver in support dated 3-5-13 the problem was fixed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shipped on time, worked fine. No cons. Wish list would include having software configure to given com ports, instead of through Windows (Admin permission problem on windows vs. software setups.) Still product did exactly as it was advertised, and my small COM port problem is fixed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the job! A perfect interface between my IC-786 Amateur Radio Transceiver, the IC-CV17 level converter, and my PC. Installs easily and works the first time. I highly recommend for this purpose

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adapter Cable worked great on W8! Needed this adapter cable to connect my Laptop running W8 to a Kantronics KPC-3 Plus TNC. Since the adapter cable D25 Connector comes with lugs, had to remove the lugs on the back of the TNC before I could install.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from All talk, no action I purchased this to allow connection of a RS232 device to a USB port on my computer. The software did not work and the connection did not link. I am not sure if there is a hardware issue as well as this type of device usually has an onboard chip for configuration. Regardless, the cable combo did not work.

Questions & Answers

Is this intended to connect to DCE equipment or DTE? Or to put it another way, if the USB end is plugged into a PC, is pin 2 the output from the PC or is pin 2 the input to the PC?

Asked by: Robert
Thomas, there are two standard pinouts that RS-232 uses with DB-25 connectors. I'm asking which one this cable uses. If you're trying to say that it uses the same standard the original IBM PC used, I guess that's a helpful observation. According to Wikipedia's article on RS-232, the IBM PC's port was DTE.

Does this cable have a Prolific 2303 Chipset contained in the DB25 molded hood which is similar to the DB9 version? If so could it be made longer (Like 5 meters)or with a Molded Micro USB on the end instead of the Standard USB?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, we have the Prolific 2303 chipset in the USB/DB25 adapter cable, however, you would need to submit a request for quote to determine if it can be manufactured in a 5 meter length. You can submit a quote at the following link: https://www.cablestogo.com/secure/custom-and-oem/request-a-quote

Is this cable compatible with a USRobotics 56k 3453C Business Courier Modem?

Asked by: Brad
Most likely this cable will work with that Modem. You would need a short male to female DB25 cable because the nuts on the adapter will prevent it from directly connecting to the modem.
