The Thunderbolt 3 USB-C to Thunderbolt Mini DisplayPort Adapter Converter is the perfect solution for connecting a Thunderbolt 3 laptop to an older Thunderbolt Gen 1 or Gen 2 display or device.

Deliver data transfers at a rate up to 20Gbps, which is fully backward compatible with Thunderbolt Gen 1 and Gen 2 devices. This adapter is an ideal solution to transfer large amounts of information, such as high resolution photos or videos from Thunderbolt Gen 1 or Gen 2 storage devices, to your Thunderbolt 3 laptop.

The adapter's USB-C connector is smaller than traditional USB connectors. It features a symmetrical design that allows you to connect it on the first try. Additionally, the durability of the USB-C connector allows for up to 10,000 connection cycles. The dongle style reduces strain on the host laptop's USB-C port, preventing extra weight and pressure from damaging the port.

Note: The adapter supports a single direction, which means that you must have a Thunderbolt 3 host device, like a laptop connected to legacy Thunderbolt Gen 1 or Gen 2 displays and devices.

(1) USB-C Male

Questions & Answers

Will this work between a Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16 (DTH-W1621H) USB-C Thunderbolt 3 (Windows 11) connected to an Apple 27 inch Thunderbolt 3 mini-dp display and use all ports on the monitor?

Asked by: GregS
I ended up buying an Anker A8383 8-in-1 USB-C Charging Hub to use with Clonezilla to copy the internal 512GB SSD of the Wacom to a new 2TB M.2 drive. One of the ports the Anker has is HDMI. I had noticed Windows 11 identified the HDMI when I set it up to clone the SSD, but was concentrating on installing the SSD & 32GB RAM. After reading the reply from Tommy, I remembered the HDMI and thought I'd give it a try. I attached an HP w2408H and then a 2709m to the HDMI port. Both worked upon boot with little change. The w2408H mirrored the Wacom by default. I changed to extend the desktop and it did just that. Clip Studio Paint even worked as it should on the Wacom display. Shut things down and swapped in the 2709m and it took as well. Windows 11 did not catch the change and kept the resolution of the w2408H, which left black side borders. After changing the resolution to the 2709m default I had a nice full 27 inch extended display while doing my work on the Wacom Mobilestudio Pro 16. I would like to try the C2G T3 to T2, but no real need to get me to spend $100+ dollars.

Will this work with Thunderbolt 4 computers?

Asked by: Tom
Thunderbolt 4 technology is backwards compatible so you should be able to use this adapter. However, your performance across that adapter will be the specs of Thunderbolt 3 not the 4 that your port is.
